The ultimate emergency radio, the Degen CY-1 is a compact battery operated portable receiver covering AM (522-1710Khz), FM (extended coverage 64-108Mhz) and SW (3.0-23.0Mhz) bands. The receiver also utilises the inbuilt alternate power sources of a solar panel and hand-cranked dynamo. The internal battery is a 3.6V 850mAh lithium-ion cell. In regular use, this can be charged via the micro USB socket on the side of the unit. A headphone socket allows private listening and will extend battery endurance which is rated at 5 hours of continuous use via the 600mW speaker.
The Degen CY-1 Emergency Radio has several “emergency” features including a white LED torch, red flashing distress LED designed as a personal locator and a loud distress siren. In addition, the Degen CY-1 Emergency Radio has a 5V USB output intended for charging mobile phones.
One additional feature of the Degen CY-1 Emergency Radio is the capability to record and playback from a micro SD card. The unit will play files in MP3, WMA and WAV formats. As there is also an inbuilt microphone, the Degen CY-1 Emergency Radio can also be used as a voice recorder. Bluetooth capability is also a feature of the Degen CY-1 Emergency Radio which will allow the user to play music stored on a mobile phone or other Bluetooth sources.
The Degen CY-1 Emergency Radio also has an inbuilt graphic equaliser, calendar, clock and timer.
