Description
The Tecsun Shortwave and AM Outdoor Antenna significantly enhances reception of signals in the medium wave (AM) and shortwave antenna bands covering 0.5-30 MHz. The Tecsun Shortwave and AM Outdoor Antenna is based on a 10 metre longwire antenna design but provides significantly improved reception over a basic longwire because it utilises a matching transformer that acts as a balun with a ratio of 10:1. This provides an optimal match between the 500 Ω antenna and the 50Ω input of the external antenna input of a radio greatly increasing the amount of signal provided to the tuner. Now supplied with additional metal coaxial adaptors, converting to RCA and BNC plugs.
The antenna’s 7.62 metre coax feeder acts as a counterpoise for the antenna, therefore no connection to ground is necessary. However, the stainless steel eyelet which is connected to the balun is internally grounded, if reception is noisy this can be grounded to an external earth.
The RG-174 coaxial cable is terminated in a mono 3.5mm plug that suits many portable shortwave receivers, including the Tecsun PL310ET, Tecsun PL 365, Tecsun PL600, Tecsun PL660, Tecsun PL680, and Tecsun PL880. Supplied with metal coaxial adaptors, converting to PL-259, RCA and BNC plugs that allows connection to most receivers including the Tecsun S2000 and Tecsun S8800.
The antenna is omnidirectional and can be used indoors or outdoors and is completely waterproof.

Highly recommend this antenna. I horizontally string it across my yard about 2 meters off the ground and works a treat. Drastically improves the signal strength compared to the on board telescopic antenna. 73’s.
